Strikes by members of the ASLEF union are set to force Northern to cancel all its train services this Saturday, 30 September and next Wednesday, 4 October.

Northern services from Monday, 2 to Friday, 6 October are expected to be disrupted because of an overtime ban imposed by the ASLEF union. Although that action does not constitute a strike, customers should check before they travel as Northern may be forced to cancel some services at short notice on those days.

On strike days the effect on customers will be:

• Northern will be unable to provide rail replacement buses
• Because of limited staffing or lack of services, some Northern stations may be closed completely or have reduced hours
• Advanced tickets will not be available to purchase for travel on strike days.

Timetables and journey planners for next week have been updated to take account of the industrial action. As there are no Northern train services operating on Saturday, 30 September or Wednesday, 4 October, no revised timetables have been issued for those days. Journey planners have been updated for travel on 29 and 30 September, and 2 to 6 October.

Timetables

• No Northern train services operating on 30 September or 4 October, so there are no strike timetables for these days.
• Journey planners have been updated for Friday, 29 and Saturday, 30 September, and Monday, 2 to Friday, 6 October.

“We hope to see a resolution to this issue in the near future and an end to the disruption these strikes cause.”
