Chris Price, North Yorkshire Moors Railway CEO, has announced he will be leaving the railway for a new role in Dorset.
Chris joined the team in 2015 after his previous role at the Talyllyn Railway, and led the railway through the Coronavirus Pandemic and the NYMR’s The Magnificent Journey Appeal.
Mr Price is moving to Dorset to take up his role as Director at the Tank Museum in Bovington.
Chris Price said: “It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be part of such a fantastic team of dedicated volunteers and staff. My time at the NYMR has been full of fun and hard work, but it has always paid off. Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the NYMR this year has been incredibly rewarding and exciting and I know that the future of the railway will continue to be bright. I hope to have made a positive contribution to the railway and have had a lasting impact that means generations to come can enjoy the fantastic attraction that we know and love.”

Nice to see him go. Awful Prices, and also only putting on Steam events as he bought the Diesel Galas to an end.
Does that mean the 1940s weekend will be back on ???
Good to see him go TBH, was not interested in volunteer input.
I know the Moors and Bovington very well and have an interest in both genres.
I have been asked many times if I would like to own a locomotive and my answer was always NO. The reason being a loco has to be based on a railway and agreements made to operate it and you can only go up and down the line.
I then would say I would rather have a tank or something large and tracked as I can go anywhere in it on the road.
THE best fun you can have with your clothes on!! 🙂
Chris will be a huge loss to NYMR after seeing him feature in the tv programmes about the railway Jeff
‘Tank Musem’ in Bovington? Not nearly as high a profile as the ‘Moors’ !
Probably better paid and with a lot less operational stress.
It’s a way higher profile museum than the NYMR. Bovingdon is a national asset, it is THE tank museum. Sorry but as good as it is the NYMR is just one of well over 60 standard gauge and goodness knows how many narrow gauge railways.
Bovington is by a factor of at least 50 a higher profile place than the NYMR.
Chris will be missed but he’ll up to the plate and do an excellent job at Bovington too.
I suppose it just depends what you’re ‘into’. I’ve not heard of Bovington – it’s never occurred to me that we actually had a tank museum. There are museums for everything though, I imagine.
