Spa Valley Railway’s ‘The Kent Cheese Train’ returns next month!

Spa Valley Railway will run The Cheese Train once again, bringing much delight to those who love cheese. The steam-hauled experience will run on Sunday the 6th of August at 2pm and will start its 5-mile journey at Station travelling through stunning countryside before arriving at .

Cheese lovers will be delighted with this unique opportunity to enjoy a delicious selection of local cheese which has been organised in collaboration with The Cheese Shop of Tunbridge Wells, whilst enjoying a delightful steam journey.

The cheese selection is as follows:

  • Winterdale Shaw is a traditional cheddar style, smooth, buttery and rich cheese with earthy flavours. This cheese is unpasteurised and is suitable for vegetarians and is made by Winterdale Cheesemakers, based in Wrotham nr. Sevenoaks Kent.
  • Kentish Blue is a cheese with a firm texture offering smooth blue notes and a fantastic aftertaste. This cheese is also unpasteurised and is suitable for vegetarians and is made by Kingcott Dairy, Staplehurst, Kent.
  • Sussex Brie is a mellow cheese with grassy notes and a hint of nuttiness. This cheese is pasteurised and is suitable for vegetarians and is made by Alsop & Walker, Five Ashes, .
  • Mayfield is which has sweet, nutty and creamy flavours and is very easy to eat similar to the Sussex Brie. This cheese is pasteurised and suitable for vegetarians and is also made by Alsop & Walker.

A selection box containing four different cheeses, Caramelised Onion Marmalade and Apricot and Ginger chutney alongside The Fine Cheese Co.’s extra virgin olive oil and sea salt crackers, will be included on every table.

On making a booking for The Kent Cheese Train a choice of drinks is made available to passengers including a small cider or white, red or rose wine, or a soft drink which is included in the £35 per person ticket price along with return travel.

The Kent Cheese Train is also available to book on Saturday the 2nd of September and Sunday the 8th of October. Further dates for later in the year are also set to be released shortly, each featuring a different cheese selection.
