Peak Rail in Derbyshire is hosting a 1940s weekend on the 1st and 2nd of July 2023.
Experience life in World War II and witness the resilience of both military personnel and civilians at the upcoming event held at Rowsley South Station.
Immerse yourself in a captivating journey through history, where World War II re-enactments, vintage trade stands, vehicle displays, and live music await. Satisfy your taste buds with a wide selection of food and drinks available throughout the event.
Entry is £20 per adult, and up to two children can enter for free with each paying adult. This includes access to the event site and train fare.
The event opens at 10 am and closes at 5 pm, and admission can be purchased at the gate. Additionally, the ticket grants access to the Bakewell station exhibition, located in the exhibition coach, on July 1st and 2nd.
The Bakewell station exhibition offers a captivating display of photographs, plans, tickets, timetables, and a replica of a station sign, showcasing the station’s history.
The event organisers are particularly interested in gathering information about the staff who worked at Bakewell station during that period.
In the exhibition coach, visitors can also explore the history of the Rowsley South site and enjoy a display by the Rowsley Association. The Rowsley Association, comprised of former shed and yard staff from the 1960s, provides valuable insights into the site’s history.
Most of the exhibition will be available for viewing until Monday, August 28th. Please consult the Peak Rail website for the public opening days and any admission charges that may apply.
