The Union has announced that their members working in catering supply for have voted to take strike action in a dispute over pay.

Workers are employed by contractor DHL to provide catering stores for Avanti trains.

In a 66% turnout, 97.5% of votes voted yes.

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “This is a fantastic ballot result for our members, and it is now time for DHL and Avanti to make an offer on pay.

“It is insulting that our members have not been offered anything despite the fact both DHL and Avanti are highly profitable.

“For bosses to try and use the separate national dispute as a reason for the pay rise not being awarded, is a poor attempt to distract from the reality in front of them.

“If a pay offer is not forthcoming, then strike action is inevitable.”

  1. How comes that Avanti West Coast Class 221 Voyager train was at Northampton as seen on the picture. Just saying.

Or does Avanti West Coast allow some of their trains to stop at Northampton coming from London Euston, Birmingham New Street, Stafford, Manchester Piccadilly, Liverpool Lime Street and Glasgow Central.

  2. It just gets better and better.RMT seem to be trying to wreck anything to do with our railway.Avanti are ( allegedly) providing a better service.Rail catering is a joke. You have to take your own.The terrible (lack of) catering on trains is another major loss of revenue.
Catering is immensely profitable, if you do it correctly.I know of, at least one, gardening centre that makes more money out of its food sales than garden products.
