The British Transport Police (BTP) is appealing for the public’s help to trace the final steps of a woman who sadly died on a railway line in Greater Manchester.
At around 3.55 pm on Sunday, 9th April, the police were alerted that a woman had been found near the railway tracks close to Ashton Cricket Club. Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
She was later identified as Colette Fazakerley, who had been reported missing the previous day, on Saturday, 8th April. Police officers are now endeavouring to piece together her last known movements.
Colette was was 5ft 2ins tall and when she was last seen she was wearing a grey and black cardigan, black corduroy dress, grey tights and black boots.
If anyone has any information that may help the investigations can contact British Transport Police by calling 0800 40 50 40 or texting 61016 with the reference 328 of 9 April.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Oliver Jemson said: “We need help to establish what Colette was doing in the hours after she was last seen – at around 8.10 pm on Friday 7 April outside Bar 15 in George Street, Ashton-under-Lyne and when her body was found on Sunday 9 April.
“We’re analysing Ashton town centre CCTV but if you have dashcam footage you might think is useful, or a personal video doorbell, please let us know.
“While we are not treating her death as suspicious, is important to her family to know what happened in the hours leading up to her death and so I urge anyone who saw Colette to get in touch as soon as they can.”
