To accommodate the thousands of extra football fans who will be travelling to the Viaplay League Cup Final between Rangers and Celtic at Hampden Park next Sunday, 26th February, at 15.00, ScotRail has announced it will add more seats to its services.

Both before and after the match, trains between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida and between Glasgow Central and Kings Park will have extra carriages to help supporters get to and from the game.

However, ScotRail is warning that trains are expected to be much busier than normal, therefore customers should plan ahead and allow additional time for their journey.

To smooth fans’ journeys, queuing systems will be in place at Glasgow Central before the match and at Mount Florida and Kings Park afterwards. Celtic fans travelling to the match should travel on services to Kings Park, while Rangers supporters should travel on services to Mount Florida. After the match, Rangers fans should return via Mount Florida, while Celtic supporters should return from Kings Park station.

At Glasgow Central station there will be separate queues for Celtic and Rangers fans. Rangers fans should queue for their trains to Mount Florida via the carriage driveway on Hope Street, while Celtic supporters should queue for services to Kings Park via the main concourse in Glasgow Central station.

To reduce the need to queue for tickets, customers are advised to use the mTicket system on the ScotRail app to buy their return tickets to Mount Florida or Kings Park in advance. The mTicket system allows customers to buy their tickets from the comfort of their homes or on the way to the station and it will instantly become available on their mobile devices.

Extra ScotRail staff will be available to assist customers, and it has issued a reminder that the carrying and consumption of alcohol is prohibited on ScotRail trains and in ScotRail stations.

“We’ll be adding more seats to trains to keep people moving hassle-free, but customers should plan their journeys in advance and allow some additional time for travel.

“To minimise your need to queue, buy your return tickets before you travel on the ScotRail app or website.”
