London North Eastern Railway’s ‘Tomorrows Talent’ online work experience programme is back once again from Monday the 13th of February 2023.

The event is aimed at teenagers and those wishing to take part have just one week left to apply for the free course. The course will reveal job opportunities for the sector but will also utilise skills in relation to creativity, problem-solving, leadership and teamwork. Students taking part will complete a number of online modules with subject matters such as increasing the use of digital and innovative technology and the importance of sustainability.

Over 500 teenagers which live within ten miles of the London North Eastern Railway route have participated in the programme which is available to 14 to 18-year-olds studying in years 10 to 13 in England or S3-S6 in Scotland.

David Horne, Managing Director at LNER, said: “At LNER we believe that inspiring the talent of tomorrow, the future generation of rail workers, is vital. We are proud to be able to provide this unique insight into the fantastic variety of careers our industry has to offer where young people across our route are given the opportunity to engage with and hear from experts in a wide range of fields. My own railway career started with a work experience week. Tomorrow’s Talent is a brilliant way of showcasing the roles rail has to offer.”

The online sessions have had great feedback with 86% of participants reporting that they would recommend the programme to a friend, and 86% said they felt more confident about speaking with professionals after the sessions which has raised by 21% since the last time the programme ran.

As they currently operate to Lincoln, Leeds, Bradford Forester Square, York, Hull, Newcastle, Sunderland, Edinburgh Waverley, Aberdeen, Inverness, Perth, Doncaster, Durham and Darlington.
