Alstom, the global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, has been awarded certification as the Global Top Employer for 2023, having received certificates for being Top Employer in 22 countries compared to 14 countries in 2022.

Because of climate change, Alstom must respond to the increasing demand internationally for more sustainable mobility solutions. With the Group’s order book standing at €85.9 billion, Alstom offers excellent opportunities for recruitment and is specifically looking for young people who can contribute to the challenges of smart and sustainable mobility.

This year, Alstom is looking to recruit an additional 520 employees in the United Kingdom, with 120 of them being apprentices and graduates. Alstom’s recruitment strategy is to particularly target young graduates, the objective being that in some countries such as France, over 30% of new recruits should be from young graduates, International Internship Program for Europeans, doctoral students, dual studies, and apprentices.

To support recruits’ integration and development the company has a strong internal learning culture. On average, each employee receives 21 hours of training every year using state-of-the-art technology. This training covers a wide range of technologies, but is mainly digital and can be accessed anywhere at any time from an employee’s computer, tablet, or smartphone.

In addition, Alstom University offers immersive virtual reality experiences through regional campuses, the metaverse, and immersive interaction platforms using avatars and 3D models accessed from personal computers or virtual reality headsets.

Anne-Sophie Chauveau-Galas, Alstom’s Chief Human Resources Officer, said: “We are extremely proud to receive the Global Top Employer certification. This award recognises our ongoing commitment to making Alstom one of the best working environments in the world.

“As a leader in smart and sustainable mobility, innovation and diversity are at the heart of our corporate strategy. We are looking for young talent to invent tomorrow’s mobility and grow with us”.

“Beyond the number of training courses proposed, we also put a particular emphasis on the experience offered to our trainees, as well as their integration into the company.

“In 2022, Alstom obtained the “Happy Trainee” accreditation in France, Canada, and Brazil, as well as the “Happy Apprentice” accreditation in the United Kingdom. This demonstrates the company’s desire to continue offering the best possible experience for our trainees and apprentices.”

Alstom’s “Happy Trainee” is a certification based on an internal survey among its apprentices and trainees. Its purpose is to evaluate the overall work experience of young recruits and then to outline areas in each country that need improvement.
