Race goers who are attending the Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup Festival will be helped by ScotRail through adding extra carriages on the 17th September.
Services are expected to be busier than usual with around 10,000 people to be using the trains to travel to the Ayrshire town on the final day.
Ayr station is around an hour away from Glasgow Central and then a 10 minute walk to the race track.
Services which would normally be formed of three or four carriages will be extended to six or seven carriages.
ScotRail’s ban on alcohol in stations and on trains is still in place. Customers are reminded not to consume alcohol on stations or trains or visibly carry alcohol. Those who have drunk alcohol may be refused access to services if unable to take care of themselves.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said: “The Ayr Gold Cup Festival has a special place in the hearts of Scottish racegoers and ScotRail will be doing all we can to help customers get to and from the track as efficiently and comfortably as possible.
“We will be laying on extra carriages on the services that we know from experience will be busiest between Ayr and Glasgow.
“Customers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and should remember that our ban on drinking alcohol in our stations or on our trains remains in place.”
