The have a number of fire precautions still in place, such as limiting train size to reduce sparks from the chimney as well as reducing speed where required.

They will also be carrying out regular reviews in case high temperatures and dry weather continue.

While they have resumed operating trains for standard service, the unpredictable conditions will affect their planned “non-stop express” intense service.

North Railway stated that being unable to feature the non-stop express and the non passenger train for demonstration would cause the Gala to lose their essence.

By reason of safety they have chosen to postpone their Bank Holiday Gala till Saturday 8th and 9th October.

Further details will be released in due course and visitors can go to www.nnrailway.co.uk/autumn-gala/ and those with advance tickets can go to www.nnrailway.co.uk/summer-gala/ for options.
