Alstom has signed a contract to provide full-service maintenance for ‘s fleet of 60 DE-6400 locomotives operating in and the .

DB Cargo’s DE-6400 locomotive fleet is integral to its operations in the Netherlands and Belgium, in particular those parts of the rail network that do not have an overhead catenary, such as in shunting yards and terminals.

The contract ensures that DB Cargo can maintain a high level of fleet reliability for its customers. The Belgian fleet can also be maintained at ‘s facilities in Bruges so that the fleet can be maintained geographically close to DB Cargo’s operations.

Healthhub, which is an innovative tool for predictive maintenance, allows the digital services to be integrated so that the state of the company’s assets can be monitored through various date capture solutions. This is particularly useful for the more critical parts of the locomotives, especially where there are large and widely-dispersed dispersed fleets.

The initial contract is for three-years with an option for a further two years . Under the terms of the contract, Alstom will provide both preventive and corrective maintenance. For the last 18 years, Alstom has had a long-standing and trusted relationship with DB Cargo Netherlands in Rotterdam.

Alstom has provided maintenance services in the Benelux region for many years, and today the company is responsible for the maintenance of over 200 vehicles. These include multiple fleets of locomotives and Utrecht’s tram fleet in Utrecht. Alstom is also responsible for modernisation of the fleets, their parts, repairs, overhauls, and digital and support services, as well as remote monitoring of the fleets.

Frank Strik, Managing Director Services Benelux, said:

“We are very pleased and honoured to be awarded the extension of the maintenance partnership with DB Cargo Netherlands and DB Cargo Belgium. This new contract is a confirmation of the confidence DB Cargo has in our capacities to meet their needs by serving a high level of service in order to have a fully operational locomotives fleet.”
