The North Norfolk Railway has officially announced this morning that BR Ivatt 2-6-2T No. 41241 will be visiting them for their upcoming Spring Steam Gala.
Held between the 1st and 3rd April, the Spring Steam Gala will feature a special timetable with five engines in steam with four of the line’s homefleet of locomotives joining 41241.
It is a rare appearance away from the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, and will appear in its special KWVR Red livery. At the time that 41241 was preserved, locomotives on heritage lines could not wear BR liveries.
Other traction at the gala will be drawn from the pool of locomotives, including GER Class Y14 No. 564; Somerset & Dorset 7F No. 53809; BR Standard 4MT No. 76084; BR Standard 9F No. 92203 “Black Prince” and War Department No. 90775 “The Royal Norfolk Regiment”.
Commercial Manager, Graham Hukins, commented “The Steam Gala delivers over 9 hours of on track entertainment each day so is perfect for photographers, enthusiasts, families and day trippers alike. We are looking forward to welcoming 41241 as she will be a first time visitor to the line and we expect her distinctive red livery to prove popular with visitors.”
Full details of the Spring Steam Gala can be found on the North Norfolk Railway website.
