East Somerset Railway announces that Cranmore West station is not currently in use due to essential work being carried out.

The heritage railway is undertaking essential work on the platform at Cranmore West station and unfortunately means that no trains will be stopping at the station, however, trains will be in operating to Mendip Vale as usual. Visitors will still be able to visit The Engine Shed and view the workshop as normal using the footpath from Cranmore Station.

The East Somerset Railway aims to get the platform at Cranmore West back in action as soon as possible.

The East Somerset Railway is a 2½ mile preserved railway and runs between Cranmore and Mendip Vale.

The line railway was previously part of the former Cheddar Valley line which ran from Witham to Yatton before it was axed by Beeching.

The railway hosts a collection of heritage diesels and steam locomotives and runs a standard service every weekend as well as Wednesdays and Thursdays during the high season.
