The Children’s Week event will see steam trains running from the Cinque Port town of Hythe, through to the beautiful family-friendly seaside village of Dymchurch, and onto Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway’s (RH&DR) headquarters at New Romney and then on to the National Nature Reserve of Dungeness.
Throughout Children’s Week, RH&DR want to encourage young enthusiasts to visit and kick off their new year by seeing locomotive no. 4, The Bug which also has its own membership club, especially for children.
Members of The Bug Club can travel for free from Monday the 14th to Friday the 18th of February.
Activities during Children’s Week are as follows:
- Monday the 14th: Craft activities in New Romney Conservatory from 11:00 to 15:00.
The Bug will be on display. - Tuesday the 15th: The Bug rides along New Romney Station from 10:45 to 14:15.
Free craft activities will be available at New Romney Station from 11:00 to 15:00.
‘The Bug Talks’ will take place at New Romney at 11:15 and 13:15. - Wednesday the 16th:The Bug rides along New Romney Station from 12:00-13:30.
Free craft activities at New Romney Station from 11:00 until 15:00. The Bug’s Breakfast Train – pre-booking is essential! - Thursday the 17th: The Bug Shuttles to Romney Warren Halt for Kent Wildlife Trust’s Bird Feeding Workshop.
Trains from New Romney to Warren Halt are at 10.00, 10.30, 11.00, 11.30, 12.00 and 12.30 Trains from Warren Halt to New Romney are at 10.45, 11.15, 11.45, 12.15, 12.45, 13.05.
Random Acts of Kindness Day – surprises await! Free craft activities at New Romney Station from 11:00 until 15:00. ‘The Bug Talks’ at New Romney at 11:15 and 1:15. - Friday the 18th: Free craft activities at New Romney Station from 11:00 until 15:00.
