One of the new Class 777 Merseyrail trains will be visiting Southport after it visited Birkenhead North station during September and proved to be incredibly popular with hundreds of people stepping on board to experience the train for themselves.
Passengers in Southport will now have the chance to take a look at the new trains with an event taking place later this month.
The new trains come with a wide range of customer-based features which include innovative sliding step technology, which brings step-free access for all, dedicated bike storage, extra space for wheelchairs, prams and luggage plus onboard wi-fi. The new trains have been built by train manufacturer Stadler for the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
During the event, the train will be available to visit from a fully accessible platform with staff on hand to answer questions and talk through the features the new trains will bring.
Merseyrail has said that Southport railway station has no parking available at the station with those visiting advised to use public transport to get to and from the station.
Details of the event:
Date: Saturday the 23rd of October
Time: 10am to 2pm
Location: Southport Rail Station, Chapel Street, Southport. PR8 1BE

Well maybe it’s time to say goodbye to the Class 507 and Class 508 rolling stocks that are to be replaced by the Class 777 Metro units that Stadler are manufacturing them for Merseyrail. And a extra 60 Class 777s to be manufactured.
There seems to be a lot of visits of the class 777 across Merseyrail reported but very little delivered.
Southport Train Station has a massive Car Park right next to the station. This article is terrible.
Hi,
Thanks for your comment.
This article has been written using information provided by Merseyrail. I have checked back on this information and it states that there is no parking available at the station. You can see this for yourself here: https://www.merseyrail.org/news/back-by-popular-demand-new-train-to-visit-southport-1.aspx
I hope this helps
Regards
Michael
