Passengers can keep in touch with friends and family or connect to that all-important work meeting with new free and unlimited Wi-Fi at Birmingham New Street station.
The upgraded Wi-Fi introduced by Network Rail allows multiple devices to connect without needing to create a login account and is fast enough to allow streaming and video calls.
Following passengers feedback, the new connection was implemented which is ‘Friendly WiFi’ (meets Government’s Public safe filtering standards and is child friendly).
As passengers return to the railway following the Covid pandemic, the new fast and free Wi-Fi will welcome them at Birmingham New Street station.
Further stations nationwide managed by Network Rail will see the new fast, free and unlimited Wi-Fi installed, with 19 of the largest stations connected by the end of the year.
For further information, see Free Wi-Fi at Network Rail Stations.
Steven Ireland, head of stations and security for Network Rail’s Central route, said: “Customers have told us that to enhance and improve things for them and free Wi-Fi was a must – so, we’ve provided it. I’d urge anyone to take advantage of the new reliable and secure service when travelling through the station.
“So, we’re delighted to introduce free and fast Wi-Fi at Birmingham New Street station. The new Wi-Fi will allow customers to remain connected with friends and family as we return to the railway, looking forward to Christmas and the Commonwealth Games next year.”

Fast and free WiFi at Birmingham New Street. Maybe most other stations should also benefit from having faster free WiFi.
