The festival which runs from this Friday the 10th of September through to Sunday the 12th of September and will see headline acts like Courteeners, Liam Gallagher and The Chemical Brothers alongside other huge names in music.

Each day of the festival is expected to see an attendance of approximately 50,000 festival-goers and with train services affected by planned engineering works and ongoing industrial action over the weekend, are encouraging people to organise and double check their travel arrangements.

Disruption to services on Saturday the 11th of September

  • Planned engineering works undertaken by Network Rail Scotland between Westerton and Milngavie will mean that services between Milngavie and Larkhall/Springburn will begin and end at Garscadden. A rail replacement bus will be in operation between Partick and Milngavie and will call at every intermediate station .
  • Planned engineering works being carried out between Winchburgh and Newbridge will affect train services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Falkirk High/Cumbernauld, and also between Edinburgh and Perth/Dunblane/Stirling. A rail replacement bus will be in operation between Linlithgow and Edinburgh, and also between Falkirk Grahamston and Edinburgh.
  • Passengers planning their journeys should note that using rail replacement buses will mean longer journey times.

Disruptions to services on Sunday the 12th of September

  • RMT ongoing strike action will mean that only a very limited number of trains will be running throughout Scotland, with no trains running at all by the time the festival ends.

ScotRail is providing extra carriages to services on key routes both in and out of Glasgow and also where possible during Friday and Saturday, as well as adding extra late evening services on Saturday.

Festival-goers are being reminded that the last trains on most routes will leave before or very shortly after the event ends each night and are advised to double check the times of their last trains, making alternative arrangements for getting home if stopping later at the festival

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said:

“We’re urging people heading to TRNSMT this weekend to make their travel plans now.

“Planned engineering works and ongoing industrial action will impact our ability to get you to and from the festival on Saturday and Sunday.

“Make sure to check your train times on our website or app and leave plenty of time for travel as the last trains each night will depart before, or very shortly after, the event finishes.”

A spokesperson for ‘cinch presents TRNSMT,’ said:

“We are urging all customers attending ‘cinch presents TRNSMT’ to plan their travel well in advance of the weekend.

“Fans must consider their travel options, particularly for when the festival closes each night and all day on Sunday, due to the planned engineering works and ongoing strike action across the rail network.

“Fans will need to make alternative arrangements in order to make your journey home after the festival as smooth as possible, so please book any travel in advance.”

  1. I guarantee that ScotRail should retain the Inter7City HSTs as they are very reliable. Whoever wins the Scottish Railways franchise and Abellio to lose the franchise next year.
