The Branch Line Society has announced The Wirral Squirrel charity railtour, which is set to take place on Sunday 3rd October 2021.
The railtour will be operated by Locomotive Services Limited and will feature Class 40s D213 ‘Andania’ and D345, resplendent in its new BR Green livery.
The locomotives will operate in Top N Tail mode throughout the tour, with the final route to be finalised.
The current routing is set to be Crewe (Pick Up), Liverpool Lime Street (Pick Up), Runcorn, Halton Chord, Helsby, Ellesmere Port, Hooton Rock Ferry, Chester Curve, Croes Newydd Up Goods Loop, Bidston, Croes Newydd Up Goods Loop, Chester Through Road, Helsby, Warrington Bank Quay, Earlestown, Lowton Junction, Ince Moss Chord, St Helens Central, Olive Mount Junction, Olive Mount Chord, Bootle Junction, Hall Road Wallside Siding, Bootle Junction, Bootle Branch Junction, Liverpool Lime Street and Crewe.
This special railtour will be raising funds for James’ Place, which aims to make sure help is available for every man facing a suicidal crisis, as well as the charity, Railway Children.
Seating will be allocated inline with government guidelines and a buffet car will be available throughout the journey.
The BLS has thanked Merseyrail and GB Railfreight for assisting with this tour.
This tour is available for Branch Line Society members only, with First Class Non-Dining tickets available for £159 for an adult.
