London Kings Cross set for closure next weekend! Plan ahead say train operators

From Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th April, no trains will be run to or from Kings Cross as work is taking place on the signalling system.

Passengers are being asked by , Network Rail, and to check before travelling and to plan ahead.

They are asking you to not travel on Saturday or Sunday unless you need to as there will extensive closures across the East Coast Main Line.

Here are the changes to services:

Friday 23 April

  • Great Northern and Thameslink services which run to and from London Kings Cross will terminate and start at Finsbury Park where passengers can change on to London Underground services for onward travel to Kings Cross.
  • Services to and from Moorgate will continue to run, passengers are being encouraged to use these services instead of the long walk between the Finsbury Park National Rail station and the Underground station.
  • LNER train services will start and terminate at Peterborough or Stevenage, where passengers can change on to Thameslink services
  • will operate between Sunderland / Bradford Interchange and Finsbury Park
  • will not operate any services.

Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April

  • A very limited Thameslink and Great Northern service
  • No trains to or from London King’s Cross, Moorgate or St Pancras International via Finsbury Park
  • Trains will operate between Peterborough and St Neots, between King’s Lynn, Cambridge and Letchworth Garden City and between Welwyn Garden City and Potters Bar only.
  • LNER trains will terminate at Peterborough or St Neots
  • Neither Grand Central nor Hull Trains will operate to or from London.

  1. The upgrades at London Kings Cross is amazing because it means that more trains can have less disruptions and with the former railway tunnel to be reused again to increase more capacity for LNER, Hull Trains, Grand Central and Great Northern trains coming in & out of London Kings Cross.
