The Wensleydale Railway has announced that they will be holding a talk with Anthony Coulls, Senior Curator at the National Railway Museum, tonight from 7 pm.
The Wensleydale Railway Association Trust has been given a grant by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to allow restoration work on Leeming Bar station.
Despite a number of challenges, the Grade II listed building’s restoration was complete in Spring 2020 and focus has now turned to decorating and furnishing the station house to how it would have looked in the 1920s.
The talk on the 17th March is by Anthony Coulls regarding the National Railway Museum’s Brass, Steel and Fire exhibition, which is now available to view at the Science Museum in London.
Brass, Steel and Fire looks into the stories of people who crafted machines from scratch. The exhibition features locomotive models and miniature steam engines that were built between 1810 and 1910 including the world’s oldest working model steam locomotive, Salamanca, which dates back to 1836.
You can join in the talk through the Wensleydale Railway’s Facebook page or via the Heritage Talks page on the Wensleydale Railway website.
