A new book has been released by The Crowood Press and author David Tucker recording rail journeys in Scotland.

Scottish Highland Railways describes 8 rail journeys through Northern Scotland whilst also detailing their history whilst travelling along the modern-day route.

Additionally, landscapes, regional history and stations available are all described.

Over 100 archive and modern-day photos and maps feature in the book whilst providing the history of the railways in the Grampian region, the Highland Main Line, the Far North, West Highland, Oban, Mallaig and Kyle of Lochalsh.

The book also contains a list of operational stations in 2020 and stats for each station.

David Tucket has been a user of public transport since the ’60s whilst working as a researcher and writer. David has been a tour guide in Scotland since 2010 and has an extensive knowledge of travel in the Highlands.

The book can be bought from Crowood Press for £19.99, or you can pick it up on Amazon for £14.99.

Crowood Press has kindly sent RailAdvent a copy of this book for review and competition, so these will be released in a few weeks.
