Recently released, this new book from Vitali Vitaliev and Thrust Books tells the stories of Vitali Vitaliev and his travels over three decades.

Published by Thrust Books, the book can be found on Amazon for £14.99.

This book is over 600 pages in length and has a few photos at the end of Vitali on his travels.

Whilst not specifically all about railways and trains, Vitali does travel on a variety of trains in the book, such as heading from Ukraine to the UK for a visit, with the journey being done by train.

It is great to hear of the stories that Vitali has to tell, including using Baedeker’s London 1900 to explore the sights and sounds of London using the London Underground network.

Not only does Vitali visit England, but he also visits Scotland, Wales, Soviet Union, Germany, Australia, the various Islands (Channel Islands etc), France, Switzerland, North America, and South Korea.

This book takes you on travels to hundreds of places and all five continents. It’s also interesting to read about his Railway Dining experiences.

With 640 pages, I would have really liked a lot more photos to split up the text, I understand this would have made the book even longer, but for me, 640 pages of pure text were rather overwhelming.

Due to the length, it is going to take you some time to read, so is great for a nighttime read or sitting down with a cup of tea in the afternoon.

The overall size, 15cm x 23cm is a rather handy size, but with 640 pages and being 4cm thick, it is rather heavy, so perhaps not one to carry round in your laptop bag to work, for example (your mileage may vary).

However, the book is split into a number of chapters and sections, these are quite small in length so i found it easy to pick up the book for a quick one chapter read, rather than sitting down for an hour or two to read multiple.

In total, 14 chapters feature in this book, all of which are split into between 5 and 15 subsections.

It is fascinating to see where Vitali got. You could say the book would be great as a sort of online travel blog which describes all of his tours. Lots of countries here I have never been to, so the book is interesting to read and hear about the stories and memories

To bring this review to an end, this book is great to learn of the stories that Vitali Vitaliev has to tell and the places that he has visited. It is detailed and insight, but it would have been nice to see some more photos to split up the text. It is a great addition to your bookshelf if you like your travel books and learning about what places are like to visit.
