The 4253 Locomotive Company have published an update on the restoration of their Great Western Railway (GWR) 4200 Class No.4253.
Connecting Rod
Work at Sciss, using water jets to profile, has been completed on a new connecting rod for 4253.
This rod has now been transported to Inca Geometric, where final machining work, such as adding the oil pots and fluting along the sides, will be completed.
Boiler
The restoration of the boiler is being carried out by Heritage Boiler Steam Services (HBSS), based in Liverpool. Further updates on the progress will be posted in due course.
Supporting the 4253 Locomotive Company
Good progress on the restoration of 4253 has been made so far, but further support is always appreciated and would help complete the engine sooner. You can support the company in many ways, from becoming a shareholder to signing up to the Stay with Us Appeal, raising funds towards purchasing all the boiler stays required.
