The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has announced that they will be producing a safety digest after a train near Beattock went through an Emergency Speed Restriction at 45mph.
At 12:25 on the 20th December 2020, a Glasgow Central to London Euston train entered a 5mph Emergency Speed Restriction (ESR) near Beattock at around 45 mph.
The speed restriction was in place because an embankment failed earlier in the day.
No consequences occurred due to the overspeed.
A preliminary examination has been completed by the RAIB and they have decided to produce a safety digest.
This safety digest will be produced by the RAIB in the next few weeks.

Responses
Should of extended the temporary speed restrictions to 200 metres so that train drivers know that there is a problem and for the train drivers to slow down when approaching the affected area. At least the incident was avoidable.
