Vintage Trains has announced its 2021 mainline tour diary, with a varied programme of steam and diesels.
In 2021, Vintage Trains will be celebrating the 70th anniversary of both the railways run by volunteers and the Stephenson Locomotive Society with a special railtour to Swindon Works.
The SLS Special allows an opportunity for passengers to relive the bygone days with 7029 Clun Castle at the head of the train.
Other highlights for Clun Castle will see the steam locomotive visit Cardiff, Llandudno and Scarborough.
Other engines, such as 45596 Bahamas and 6233 Duchess of Sutherland, will be visiting Buxton, Holyhead, Skegness and the Heart of Wales line.
Meanwhile, The Shakespeare Express will start on the 18th July 2021 for nine consecutive Sundays of steam through Warwickshire.
Trains will start at Birmingham Snow Hill and will see 5043 Earl of Mount Edgecumbe make her debut on The Shakespeare Express after overhaul.
BR Class 20s 20189 and 20206 will join Tyseley’s Class 47 47773 The Queen Mother to haul tours and assist trains where operational rules apply.
