Vintage Trains has confirmed to RailAdvent that GWR Praire No. 4555 has been steamed for the first time after work was completed.

Locomotive Works has completed boiler work on the steam locomotive.

The Prairie is from the Dartmouth Steam Railway, but was originally preserved at the Dart Valley Railway.

4555 was the first locomotive bought directly out of British Rail service.

By coincidence, the locomotive was steamed on the same day that welcomed 3 Class 144 Pacers to their Tyseley base after being purchased from Porterbrook.

It’s great to see 4555 back in steam, and we look forward to seeing the locomotive in steam in 2021.
