The BR Class 8 Steam Locomotive Trust has told RailAdvent that work is on track to complete the restoration of steam locomotive 71000 Duke of Gloucester.
September 2021 should see the completion of the BR Class 8 locomotive, which has been dubbed the ‘impossible dream’.
When steam is in the boiler next autumn, the BR Class 8 SLT has told RailAdvent that the fine-tuning that designer Robert Riddles would have done, if he had the time do so, will be completed.
The final development of the BR express steam locomotive will soon be in steam for everyone to enjoy.
To help complete the dream, why not become a member of the BR Class 8 SLT, £10 will get you a ride on The Duke’s loaded test run.

The company I worked for forged and machined the pistons for 71000, Dyke of Gloucester.
That’s impressive!
The company I worked for commissioned, designed and built the loco. (BR)
