The B17 Steam Locomotive Trust has confirmed to RailAdvent which parts have been donated to them after it was announced that the project to build 61662 Manchester United came to an end.
The 61662 Appeal have stopped work on the project due to not being able to work on the locomotive for a year, with parts deteriorating. More information on that news can be found by clicking here.
However, some parts from the 61662 Appeal have been donated to the B17 Steam Locomotive Trust.
The items that have been donated to the 61673 Spirit of Sandringham project are an LNER Tender and a set of buffers.
The project already owns the chassis of a GE tender and an LNER tender.
The 2nd LNER tender is more complete, so that will be the basis of a single LNER tender which will be restored for mainline use with modifications completed to increase water capacity. The two tenders will be used to use the best wheels, tyres and axles from either of the two.
If you would like to help the B17 Steam Locomotive Trust in completing their project to put 61673 Spirit of Sandringham on the mainline, then why not become a member by clicking here to visit the project’s website.
As a bonus, John Pearson, from the B17 Steam Locomotive Trust has told RailAdvent “Members of the 61662 project are being offered a reduced rate membership of The B17 Steam Locomotive Trust for their first year.”
