Heritage Boiler Steam Services Ltd has released an update on progress on steam locomotive boilers at their base in Huyton.
GWR 42XX No. 4253
GWR 4253 has had its stays removed and its sides cut, this will be ready for the new sides to be fitted.
A new left hand side has been made, has been offered up the boiler, and has been cut to the right size, which will be properly fitted to the boiler in due course.
Bagnall No. 2623 Brookfield
2623’s boiler overhaul is taking place with HBSS, with recent progress seeing the firebox stay holes being reamed. The firebox door plate has also been drilled ready for further work.
GWR ‘County’ No. 1014 ‘County of Glamorgan’
Recent work on 1014 ‘County of Glamorgan’ has seen patch studs fitted to the boiler ready for tooling.
LMS ‘Patriot’ No. 5551 ‘The Unknown Warrior’
Progress on 5551’s boiler has seen the firebox stays tooled at the workshop, which is good progress, and means 5551 is another step closer to being steamed.
