Steam locomotive 46115 Scots Guardsman will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Carlisle and Blackburn on Saturday 8th August 2020.
The locomotive is on a special railtour, 46115 Scots Guardsman is hauling the Cumbrian Mountain Express on Saturday.
Please note: we believe this tour to be part-hauled by 46115 Scots Guardsman.
However, this is subject to change.
The railtour departs London Euston behind an electric locomotive at approximately 07:12 am.
The railtour will then head for Carlisle, where it will make stops at Milton Keynes Central (07:47), Rugby (08:24), Nuneaton (08:43), Crewe (09:37) and Preston (10:24) before arriving at Carnforth Down and Up Goods Loop at 10:50.
Here, the 46115 Scots Guardsman will be added to the front of the train. The train will depart with the locomotive at 11:24, steaming through Oxenholme (11:41) and Penrith (12:20), it will go non stop to Carlisle, where it will arrive at 12:42
After around 90 minutes in Carlisle, 46115 will depart Carlisle at 14:13 bound for London Euston. It will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (14:40) and will stop for water at Appleby (15:00).
Continuing down the Settle and Carlisle line, the locomotive will pass over the Ribblehead Viaduct at approx 15:57, continuing to Settle, the train comes off the Settle and Carlisle line at Settle Junction (16:14) where it heads for Hellifield, for a water stop, at 16:20.
From here, 46115 Scots Guardsman will pass through Clitheroe (17:11) and Blackburn (17:32) before arriving into Preston at 17:54.
At Preston, 46115 Scots Guardsman is taken off the train, and an electric locomotive will take the same path back to London Euston, calling at Crewe (19:28), Nuneaton (20:27), Rugby (20:50), Milton Keynes Central (21:19) and Watford Junction at 22:03.
The railtour will arrive back at its final destination of London Euston at 22:29.

Reading the text I think It’s electric traction through Warrington
Not according to the information in this article, she joins the excursion at Carnforth on the northbound journey and leaves the southbound return at Preston.
