The Class 40 Preservation Society has announced that it has agreed on a deal with Locomotive Services Ltd regarding Class 40 No. 40145.
The agreement means that 40145 will go on hire to Locomotive Services Ltd for an initial 6 month period, starting tomorrow, Tuesday 25th August 2020.
40145 is expected to leave the East Lancashire Railway tomorrow around 11 am, where it will head through Manchester Victoria (12:28) and Warrington Bank Quay (13:04), before arriving at its new home of Crewe at 13:45. These times are all subject to change.
The locomotive will likely be limited to a few outings per month on driving training, route learning or perhaps the odd Empty Carriage Stock move.
40145 now joins D213 ‘Andania’ at Locomotive Services Ltd, and is the second Class 40 locomotive currently mainline, and operational, with both under the care of Locomotive Services Ltd.
