1014 The GWR County Project has released a short update on progress made on building GWR ‘County’ No. 1014 ‘County of Glamorgan’.
Heritage Boiler Steam Services has sent photos to the project (below) of work on the casting for the safety valve base.
For those readers that don’t know, a safety valve is the valve that releases steam from the boiler of a steam locomotive automatically when pressure is at the max levels, and thus stops the steam locomotive from exploding.
This means, therefore, that this casting is an important piece of kit for use on 1014 ‘County of Glamorgan’.
The project has also released an update on fundraising progress. Around £960,000 has been raised so far for the project, which is major progress towards the target of £1,135,000.
This target will provide the project with the funds to finish the job and will help the project to provide jobs for the industries in the UK – all good news in the current difficult times in the UK.
