The has announced that Southern Railway Rebuilt Battle of Britain Class No.34053 “Sir Keith Park” will be joining the railway’s home fleet of locomotives.

Southern Locomotive Ltd (SLL) and Spa Valley Railway have formed a partnership, meaning SLL now have a permanent base on the Spa Valley Railway.

2021 should see two SLL engines operational on the heritage line, with Austerity No.75050 “Norman” to join 34053 once it’s current overhaul is completed later on this year.

“Sir Keith Park” should be arriving at the Spa Valley Railway in August 2020, with its first passenger train along the railway planned to take place in September. The first event the Bulleid is likely to run at is the revised Beer & Cider Festival in October.

  1. Time for a main line link at Eridge? If Lewes-Uckfield were to be restored I can see a steam train from Tunbridge Wells to Eastbourne using a main line loco and converted carriages being a real draw.

  2. As a frequent visitor to the line it will be good to see a ‘big’ loco’ at work, although it will never be able to demonstrate it’s real prowess at 25mph over the few miles to Eridge. I cannot see it needing 250psi boiler pressure somehow…shame!y

  3. Wow, This is An Exciting Highlight within the UK Preservation Movement.

The Spa Valley Railway – in Sussex/Kent… Are so Lucky to have a Well-Restored ex-Southern Railway Bulleid Steam Loco as part of their own fleet of locos & rolling stock… Especially to Eventually Roam the Rails of their own Preserved Railway line.

It’s Quite So Interesting that this Heritage Railway and this so-called Southern Locomotives Ltd have Creatively Formed yet another Preservation Partnership… To work together, Run A Railway of their own together & Preserve this Historic Masterpeice of A Bulleid Pacific Steam Loco Design In-Between.

Let’s Wish the Southern SVR & SLL Good Luck.
