Northern is giving its passengers a behind-the-scenes look at the working of one of Britain’s biggest train operators.

‘Working With’ will give an insight into the jobs of people who spend their time helping people across the north of England get where they need to be.

The initiative, led by social media, will start with a socially distanced video from Jayne Breen, ‘s Train Presentation Manager, and shows the work that goes into keeping Northern’s trains clean.

A spokesperson for Northern said: “Northern is full of amazing people doing their best each and every day to keep customers on the move across the north.

“Working With is a chance for our people to explain what they do, develop understanding of the workings of the railway and, ultimately, show how each and every one really cares about providing the best possible service for customers.”

Each week, Working With will show a different member of staff and will be available Northern’s Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

  1. I’m a disabled person and I’ve got a motability scooter and it’s a class 2 and it’s within the dimension my scooter doesn’t fold up it will come into bits but I can’t do this other train companies have no problems with disabled persons with motability scooter using their train’s but with northern it’s a different issue I found this unfair and discriminating especially when you have new trains and some of the old trains are been refurbished I have no problems using my scooter on a public bus and I have a permit to use on public buses why can’t northern do the same and do some training with the disabled person how to get on on and off the train safely

  2. Train presentation what a joke. Full of bullying, rmt union didn’t want to help. Ruined our lives. The bullies are now in higher paid jobs in the company while we suffer

  3. Joe….. Here’s a suggestion. How about you just leave and find a better job with better terms and conditions and better pay. You won’t be able to find one!

  4. Somehow i dont think they will as the truth my come out about how corrupt the company and managers are. Could you imagine that??
They have no idea how to treat staff fairly, so many staff are petending to have mental health issues so can take months off, the genuine staff get treated like crap.
The worse managers are at their job, they get promoted or moved to other areas. This company is the worse dishonest and corrupt company I have ever worked for……now that would make entrrtaining tv

  5. Perhaps that Northern should do a TV series just like what TransPennine Express have done recently. Including their new Class 195 and Class 331 CAF Civity units, Class 333, Class 319, Class 321, Class 322, Class 158, Class 153, Class 155, Class 156, Class 170 Turbostar and Class 769. Along with Northern train staff, train drivers, station staff, passengers and railway stations on the Northern network and so much more.
