First steam train runs on Swanage Railway since Coronavirus lockdown

The first steam train was photographed on the this week as the heritage railway prepares to reopen today, 18th July 2020.

The photo, showing 31806 on a test run, was taken by Andrew P M Wright and was taken on Wednesday whilst tests were completed ahead of the resumption of train services.

The empty stock working was the 10 am from Swanage station.

31806 is seen approaching Norden station, which reopens on Monday 20th July 2020, with Corfe Castle in the background.

Steam trains will resume trains from 18th July 2020 and will operate non-stop between Swanage and Norden. Trains WILL NOT stop at Corfe Castle, Harman’s Cross and Herston Halt.

Trains will depart Swanage station at 10.30 am 12.00 noon, 1.30 pm and 3 pm.
