The BR Class 8 Steam Locomotive Trust, who are currently overhauling 71000 Duke of Gloucester, has confirmed that text donations have now been opened for people to support the overhaul.
The Trust is in a fortunate position that the only cost during the Covid-19 pandemic is insurance cover.
However, the Trust are still trying to raise funds for the funding gap that the Trust has in order to complete the overhaul.
In addition to the ways of donating to the BR Class 8 Steam Locomotive Trust (available below), the Trust has now set up the facility to receive donations via text. The following donation methods are available, please ask the bill payers permission and for full details, please visit their website at https://www.theduke.uk.com/
- To donate £1, text DUKE to 70201
- To donate £3, text DUKE to 70331
- To donate £5, text DUKE to 70970
- To donate £10, text DUKE to 70191
Phil Sanderson, Trustee & Secretary at the BR Class 8 Steam Locomotive Trust, told RailAdvent “We hope that supporters of the Duke will be able to support the trust in closing the funding gap for the locomotive’s overhaul and in turn help Tyseley Loco Works by providing an income stream once they are able to safely return to work.”
After making the donation, the sender gets a thank you text and a link encouraging them to add Gift Aid if at all possible.
