A fault with the signalling system at Harpenden is causing disruption to journeys throughout the south.
Trains running between Luton and London St Pancras International may be cancelled or delayed.
Disruption is expected to last until 13:00
Network Rail are investigating an ongoing fault with their signalling equipment near Harpenden station. Whilst repairs are being completed, they have requested fewer trains to run to prevent a build-up of trains through this section of railway.
BE AWARE: Signalling issues are also affecting trains to and from London Euston. Please bear this in mind if using alternative trains as below.

Rail replacement buses are in operation between Corby and Kettering.
Passengers may travel via the following alternative routes:
Sheffield
Passengers may travel to Doncaster where you should change for a train to London Kings Cross. It is likely to take between 2 and 2.5 hours to complete this journey.
Derby / Chesterfield
You may travel to Birmingham New Street where you should change for a train to London Euston. It is likely to take between 2.5 and 3 hours to complete this journey.
Nottingham
You may travel to Grantham where you should change for a train to London Kings Cross. It is likely to take between 2 and 2.5 hours to complete this journey.
Leicester
You may travel to Nuneaton where you should change for a train to London Euston. It is likely to take 2 hours to complete this journey.
Thameslink Passenger Advice
If you’re travelling between London and Bedford you may need to change trains to reach your destination, increasing your journey time.
The following temporary arrangements are in place until further notice:
- St Albans to Sutton / Wimbledon services will terminate and start back from West Hampstead, and will call at Kentish Town additionally in the northbound direction.
- Bedford to Gatwick Airport services may run non-stop between London St Pancras International and Luton Airport Parkway
- Luton to Rainham services will call at all stations between Luton and London Blackfriars additionally (in the southbound direction only)
