Harrogate trains delayed after tunnel is closed for ‘safety reasons’

UPDATE: Disruption expected until 16:00

A tunnel has been closed for safety reasons between Weeton and , this is causing trains to be delayed and cancelled as a result.

Lines between Weeton and Horsforth have been closed and trains are not able to run.

LNER services will not run between and .

Where possible, will aim to run an hourly train shuttle service between York and Harrogate, and also between Horsforth and Leeds. However, some trains will be cancelled throughout.

There is no firm estimate of when the line will reopen. However, trains are expected to be delayed until 16:00.

Network Rail has reported that there is possible damage to Bramhope Tunnel.

Engineers have carried out an assessment have confirmed more repairs are needed. Estimated time for handing back the line not known

LNER have arranged replacement road transport to run between Harrogate and Leeds, to help their customers connect with train services at Leeds.

Northern have replacement buses running between Harrogate and Horsforth as follows:

  • XX:25 Horsforth – Harrogate
  • XX:30 Harrogate – Horsforth

These services are being operated by Ross Travel, J&B Travel and York Pullman.
