Network Rail is reminding users in Wombwell that Hough Lane will be closed in the New Year as work takes place to replace the bridge.

From Monday, 6 January, the bridge over the railway will be closed to allow gas, electricity and water to be removed from the bridge which will allow the bridge to be demolished and reconstructed.

The road will remain closed until the end of the project in June 2020.

During this time, a diversionary route for motorists will be in place. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Network Rail has thanked everyone impacted for their patience whilst the work takes place.
