Passengers between and experienced the future of rail travel yesterday as one of ‘ new Paragon trains completed its first trip.

The train departed Hull at 10.33 and returned from at 13:48, carrying more than 300 passengers.

The news comes as two more trains continue final safety tests in the UK after arriving from Hitachi Rail’s factory in Italy.

We were lucky enough to have a sneak peek last month of these new trains. Have a look for yourself here.

What did the officials say?

Maryanne Tennyson, on board host instructor for Hull Trains said:

“Travelling on the very first journey has been a real experience and one I won’t forget for a long time. The atmosphere on the train was fantastic, the whole crew were so excited and speaking to all the passengers, I know they were too. A lot of people commented on how much smoother the journey was and the new at-seat trolley service was really popular too.”

Louise Cheeseman, managing director from Hull Trains added.

“This is a landmark moment in the history of Hull Trains and marks a new beginning for our staff and the people of Hull. This £60 million investment in transport strengthens our connectivity to the capital, positioning Hull as a leading city of the north.

“Once fully operational, 5,500 more people will be able to travel every week and will enjoy a quieter and smoother ride. Crew and driver training continue as our team continues to roll out all five trains from the hi-tech fleet into passenger service by early 2020.”

  1. Will the seats on the Class 802 Hull Trains Paragon be as comfortable as on the GWR Class 800 & Class 802, LNER Class 800 & Class 801 and TPE Class 802 Nova 1. As many passengers have complained about the seats that aren’t as comfortable. A big test for Hull Trains as they are replacing the Class 180 Adelante and Class 43 HST stocks.
