The 6880 Betton Grange Society have announced that the boiler for GWR ‘Grange’ No. 6880 Betton Grange has passed its boiler test.

The test was completed on Friday 6th December 2019 and means that the boiler is safe to be used on the locomotive.

The next step for the locomotive is for the frames to be reunited with the boiler. It is expected that this will happen sometime later this week.

The Grange has been a long time coming, and the team has been working very hard to get to this moment in the build – it is a massive milestone and now means the locomotive is that one step closer to being completed.

What do you think of this achievement? We think its great – let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. It will be good to see a Grange in steam and operating. One of the missing classes of steam engine returning to work. Carry on with the good work.
