c2c has announced that it is offering free travel to service personnel and veterans on Remembrance Sunday.
The train operator is also commemorating the day with a special train mural designed by local pupils.
The free travel on Sunday 10 November is available to service personnel travelling in uniform or with valid ID, and to veterans who are wearing their medals.
c2c has teamed up with Cherry Tree primary school in Basildon to design a special mural commemorating Remembrance Day.
The design is being applied to the doors of 357018, which was officially named last year as “Remembering our fallen 88 1914-1918”.
Last Thursday generous c2c passengers donated over £20k to the Royal British Legion at Fenchurch Street station with actor Ross Kemp putting in a special appearance.
What did the officials say?
c2c Managing Director Julian Drury said:
“We have offered free travel to service personnel and veterans to mark Remembrance Sunday for several years now and this is our way of paying our respects to them and to the local railway staff who fell. We are also grateful for the help of pupils from Cherry Tree school and are proud to show off their commemorative design onboard one of our trains.”
