East Midlands Railway has announced that it has won awards along with its community partners at the Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP) Community Rail Awards.
The ACoRP awards were held in Telford on October 3rd and recognised the unsung heroes of the community rail world for their hard work and dedication.
Over the course of their franchise, EMR will be investing over £4 million into community development, supporting partnerships with local tourism bodies, visitor attractions and heritage railways.
They will be working with stakeholders to ensure every community reaps the benefits of the investment.
Here is a full list of EMR’s awards on the evening:
Most enhanced station buildings and surroundings:
1st place – Poacher Line Community Rail Partnership and the Bee Friendly Trust – Bottesford
2nd place – Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and the Derwent Valley Line Community Rail Partnership – Matlock Bath / Whistlestop
Small projects award (under £500)
2nd place – Friends of Spondon station
3rd place – Poacher Line Community Rail Partnership with the rotary club of Skegness
Best marketing or communications campaign
2nd place – Derwent Valley Line Community Rail Partnership – communicating Derby Resignalling to Derwent Valley Line passengers
Photo competition and video competition / best community rail in action image
2nd place – Poacher Line Community Rail Partnership and St. George’s Academy, Sleaford
Outstanding volunteer contribution
3rd place – Phil Thomas – lead station adopter at Radcliffe on Trent station
