Jonathan Dunster has announced that Class 40, 40106, has been withdrawn from winter service on the Severn Valley Railway due to problems with the steam heat boiler.
The loco itself is still serviceable, but the steam heat boiler is necessary to heat the coaches throughout the winter period.
It is hoped that 40106 will re-enter service on the 17th November 2019.
However, until then, steam locomotives from the Severn Valley Railway’s steam fleet will fill in for the Class 40.
