The East Somerset Railway has released an update on the overhaul of steam locomotive 5239 Goliath, which is now nearly complete.
More finishing touches have been added, the cab floor has been fitted and the locomotive has been moved to the put to have its valve timing adjusted.
The water level gauge has been refitted, as well as the smokebox being fitted.
The buffer beams have been painted and the oil pipe cover has been made.
All is missing now is the big red regulator handle!
This is great to see, and it doesn’t look like it will be long until 5239 Goliath is hauling passenger trains once again!
