Nexus has issued a statement about its programme to order a brand new train fleet for the Tyne and Wear Metro.
The new fleet will cost a total of £362m.
They have not made a decision on who will be awarded the project, nor have they commented on any bids from the final three companies, this being Hitachi, Stadler or CAF.
The successful bidder will be announced in the new year when Nexus has completed a detailed evaluation.
The successful bidder will design, build and maintain a fleet and maintenance facilities that will serve Metro for 35 years.
The successful bidder will also construct a new depot at Gosforth in Newcastle.

I think it’ll be Hitachi who will build and manufacture new rolling stocks for the Tyne and Wear Metro.
