Steam locomotive heading for Carlisle this Saturday

Steam locomotive 45690 Leander will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Horton-in-Ribblesdale and Garsdale on Saturday 17th July 2019.

The Jubilee locomotive is on a special railtour. 45690 Leander is hauling the Hadrian on Saturday.

The railtour departs Leicester behind a diesel locomotive at approximately 06:02am.

The railtour will then leave Leicester, bound for Carlisle, where it will make stops at Loughborough (06:20), East Midlands Parkway (06:33), Ilkeston (06:58), Alfreton (07:13), Chesterfield (07:30), Moorthorpe (08:05), Shipley (09:01), Skipton (09:26) and Hellifield at 10:22.

Here, the 45690 Leander will be added to the front of the train. The train will depart with the locomotive at 11:00, it will pass through Ribblehead (11:22), Langwaithby (12:10) and Carlisle at 12:53.

After around 2 and a half hours in Carlisle, 45690 will depart Carlisle at 11:38 bound for Leicester. It will pass through Haltwhistle (16:10), Hexham (16:28), Durham (17:26), Northallerton (18:57), Thirsk (18:57) and York at 19:48.

Diesels take over from Leander at York, and will pass through Moorthorpe (21:05), Chesterfield (21:40), Alfreton (21:55), Ilkeston (22:09), East Midlands Parkway (22:31) and Loughborough (22:49).

The railtour will arrive back at its final destination of Leicester at 23:05.
