The Groudle Glen Railway has announced that Brown Bear has arrived on the Isle of Man following completion.
That means that six years of fundraising and construction has come to an end.
Sea Lion, her sister locomotive, was there in steam to welcome her!
The steam locomotive arrived on the island courtesy of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.
Brown Bear has been undergoing final assembly by John Fowler & Sons at Old Hall Farm in Cumbria and arrived on the overnight boat on Monday 8th July 2019.
Testing began immediately along with a number of photo opportunities alongside her ‘sister’ Sea Lion around the railway.
The new locomotive is due to be launched alongside Otter for the Isle of Man Heritage Transport Festival at the end of July.
We will be operating Wednesday 24th July: 11am to 9pm, Saturday 27th July – Victorian Day: 11am to 4:30pm and Sunday 28th July – Gala Day: 11am to 4:30pm.

It’s interesting to see that the steam locomotive brown bear had arrived at Groudle Glen, before it’s first train service. Very good.
