May brought good news for the Trust, along with more progress on building 82045 at the Severn Valley Railway.
Undercover
Some time in May, 82045 was moved into Bridgnorth’s erection shop as a space had become available.
Although not on a permanent basis, the Trust hopes to complete the ‘bottom-end’ of the tank while inside the shop and is protected from the elements. This of course depends on how much support the Trust receives.
A few components are currently under construction/receiving work by contractors. These are the four axleboxes for both trucks, which are being white metalled by Osborne Engineering, and both the union links, combination levers & pull rod have been forged by Stephenson Engineering.
The next task by this company is to complete the reversing shaft.
Work on building the steam chest cladding and fitting the vacuum pipework is in progress, along with machining a few parts, such as piston rods.
